How to get there 

Ranthambore National Park is located in Rajasthan, India, near Jaipur. The nearest airport is Sanganer Airport in Jaipur, about 3 hours by car. However, the easiest way to get there is to take a train to Sawai Madhopur station, one hour from the park. This train is directly connected to the main cities of India, such as Jaipur, Mumbai, and Delhi.

When to go

In March-May before the monsoon season, when vegetation cover is at a minimum and the animals are more active in seeking water – but it can be extremely hot. Winter (December-February) is almost as good and much less hot.

History

Ranthambore National Park is one of the largest national parks in India. It was declared as a sanctuary of Sawai Madhopur in 1955 by the government of India. Years later, he won the protection of the “tiger project”, in 1973. Then in 1980, his state was proclaimed as a National Park. This park is known worldwide for its tiger reserve. In 2008 the park had 1400 species of tigers. Over the years that number has been decreasing.
