Ta-an Bathing Beach is located in Taichung, in Central Taiwan. Remote and isolated, this extensive beach is both sandy and pebbly, with fascinating sand sculptures and stunning coastal views. Ta-am Bathing Beach is usually windy, with strong waves for a fun swim. The atmosphere and stretch of sand is great for walking and jogging, with unique spots for photography. There are a few restaurants nearby, and food trucks along the beach. It is a very quiet and empty beach, and rarely gets busy.

Qixingtan Beach is located in Hualien County, in Eastern Taiwan. This picturesque beach is backdropped by mountains, offering dramatic views and a pebbly coast perfect for walking and photography. The water is bright blue but not suitable for swimming, with strong waves and undercurrents. With the Hualien Airport nearby, you can watch the planes landing and taking off. Besides, there is a children’s playground in the area. There are a few restaurants at the beach, as well as food vendors.

Jiqi Beach is located in Hualien County, in Eastern Taiwan. This serene beach offers black sand and pebbles backdropped by mountains, giving off dramatic views and photography options. The waves are strong but the lifeguards at the beach make it safe for everyone, and great to play in the shore or go surfing and bodyboarding. It is usually empty and quiet, but can get busy during weekend afternoons.

Baishawan Beach is located in Shimen District, in the Northern Taiwan region. With soft sand and no rocks, this beach is safe and perfect for swimming. Besides, you can have an exciting time and try out windsurfing or kitesurfing.  There are some cafes, stores and a fish and chips place on the beach, and you can rent a tent. The beach is not crowded early in the morning, but later on the day it gets busier. Stay in the evening to admire the sunset as you walk along the beach.

Fulong Beach is located in the Gongliao District, in the Northern Taiwan region. This beach has a calm atmosphere, a favorite among those who want to relax after a long week. During the summer, there are some fantastic sand sculptures, which make Fulong Beach a famous one in Taiwan. Keep in mind that there is an entry fee, even for kids, and there are no restaurants nearby. Avoid swimming during the high tide, as it can be very dangerous; there are walking and cycling paths you can follow instead.

Waiao Beach is located in Yilan County, in Eastern Taiwan. With dark sand and a mountainous backdrop, this scenic beach is a top spot for photography, with views of the nearby Turtle Island. The fast wind is perfect for parasailing, and the strong waves are great for surfing and bodyboarding. You can find a restaurant and a cafe at the beach, as well as a few surf shops where you can get lessons and all the equipment you need. Keep in mind that the beach tends to be busy during the weekends, especially in the afternoon.

This stunning, serene beach offers an extensive stretch of sand perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, with stunning sunsets making it a top spot for wedding photos. Even though swimming is prohibited here due to strong undercurrents, the calm waves washing ashore are perfect for walking and dipping your feet in cool water. You can find a few restaurants, stores and accommodation around the city nearby. Since it is not a touristy spot, Shalun Beach is usually quiet and empty, with a peaceful atmosphere.

Little Bay Beach, Kenting

Little Bay Beach is located in Kenting, in the Southern Taiwan region. Just how the name states, this beach is only 200m long, and you can walk from one side to the other in less than an hour. The water is very clear and calm, so you can swim and relax, try some water-sports or enjoy a banana ride. A bar right on the entrance offers refreshing drinks, and there is a store where you can rent chairs and umbrellas.

Kenting Baishawan is located in Pingtung County, in the Southern Taiwan region. This white-sandy beach has clear and calm water, with a lifeguard available, making it very safe to swim. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, or have a peaceful time laying on the sand and sunbathing. At the main road next to the beach there is a seafood restaurant, near the bus stop. Both ends of the beach can be a bit more crowded than the center area.

Cijin Beach is located in the Qijin District, on the western coast of Cijin Island, in Southern Taiwan. With dark sand and a mountainous surrounding, this lovely beach is a great place for nature lovers, with warm weather perfect to sunbathe and relax. The waves are small and safe for swimming, and the stretch of dark sand is great for walking; you can also rent bicycles and play beach volleyball. There are food vendors along the beach, and you can find a few restaurants and shops in the area. Keep in mind that it can get crowded during the weekends, especially on Sundays with the night markets opening.
