The complex consists of two parts: the base and the top. At the base of the pillar remains standing a small chapel, the church of Stylite Simeon, which is still in use. The Sataplia Nature Reserve owes its name to the local tradition of collecting honey from the bees that live on the southern slope of the mountain. Sataplia means “place of honey”. The park was founded in 1935 to protect the nearly one kilometre long Sataplia cave and the dinosaur footprints found in the area. The beauty of the lush canyon can also be appreciated on foot. In addition to the boat ride you can follow a route along the canyon that usually lasts about 15-20 minutes.

The fortress of Ananuri dates from the thirteenth century, was built with a very clear purpose, to prevent invasions, or repel them as best as possible, those invasions that came from the north. Ananuri is one of the most photographed places in Georgia and one of its tourist symbols, a destination that defines like no one else the essence of Georgian identity, to intermingle in one place, religion, glorious past and a landscape to fall in love.

Uplistsikhe is one of several rock-hewn cities in Georgia, but what makes it special is that it is the oldest. When you enter the enclosure you find a path to the top, it is the perfect place to jump between stones and look for nooks and caves to look inside, or look for the best views towards the Mtkvari River. The church of Uplitsulis is located in one of the highest parts of this ex-city, and is believed to have been built in the 10th century. It is well worth entering.
