The following list highlights some of the best beaches in Holland. So if you are in Holland, I recommend visiting the following:

Schiermonnikoog Island, Holland

Schiermonnikoog Island is part of the West Frisian Islands, in the Friesland Region of Northern Netherlands. This is the smallest island of the chain, with only one village settled in the area, small cafes and restaurants around. For this reason, the beaches on the northern coast of the island are always empty and quiet, perfect to have a relaxing time and disconnect from the world. There are bicycle paths around the island, some leading to the uninhabited and almost unexplored eastern coast. This eastern part of the island can only be fully explored during low tide, and many people take the challenge every year.

Terschelling Island, Holland

Terschelling Island is part of the West Frisian Islands, in the Friesland Region of Northern Netherlands. The beaches along the northern coast of the island can be either rocky or sandy, but always quiet and with blue water.Being so small, you can explore the island by biking or walking along the many paths; head to the tourist office to get a map of all the hiking and biking paths. In the major villages, you can find many places to eat, some of them opening their terraces during the summer to enjoy a meal with views towards the sea.

Vlieland Island, Holland

Vlieland Island is part of the West Frisian Islands, in the Friesland Region of Northern Netherlands. The beaches along the northern coast and on the western side of the island are sandy, with grassy areas and shallow water. To explore the island, you can rent a bike, or walk from one end to the other; the island is so small you can do it in just one day. In some of the beaches you can ride a horse along the sand, allowing you to live an unforgettable experience. You can find restaurants, beach bars, cafes and resorts at the beaches.

Texel Island, Holland

Texel Island is part of the West Frisian Islands, in the Friesland Region of Northern Netherlands. This is the largest island of the chain, with sand dunes and sandy beaches on the western coast. With great winds and shallow waters, kitesurfing is a favorite activity among tourists and locals alike. During summer, the beaches are the busiest, but other than that they are empty and quiet, perfect to sunbathe and relax. There are many beach bars and restaurants, and the nightlife on the western coast is one of a kind.

Zandvoort Beach, Zandvoort

Zandvoort Beach is located in Zandvoort, in the Western Netherlands region. With fine golden sand and shallow waters, this wide beach offers some time for everyone. Being as windy as it is, both tourists and locals come here to enjoy surfing and kitesurfing, and you can get your first lessons. Besides, many people choose to walk their dogs along this relaxing beach. It is a popular beach, but it only gets crowded during weekends. There are many restaurants along the beach, as well as stores and beach bars.

Noordwijk Beach, Noordwijk

Noordwijk Beach is located in Noordwijk, in the west coast of the Western Netherlands region. This dog-friendly beach has golden sand and is calm and relaxing, but also windy and great for watersports. You can find people surfing or paragliding, and you can try too; the beach usually gets crowded only on Fridays and Saturdays. There are shops, restaurants and cafes along the beach and on the main road, with a wide variety of food and friendly staff. Nearby, you can find museums and theaters you can visit after a relaxing day at the beach.

Scheveningen Beach, La Haya

Scheveningen Beach is located in Den Haag, in the west coast of the Western Netherlands region. This picturesque beach, with soft sand and warm water, offers endless options to have fun, and a calm atmosphere to relax. Besides surfing and other watersports, you can enjoy bungee jumping, get on the russian wheel or the zipper ride, go golfing or bowling. The beach is popular, but never gets overly crowded, and you can always find a quiet spot to sit and relax. There are shops, cafes and many restaurants along the beach; seafood, japanese, bar & grill…

Strand Domburg Beach, Domburg

Strand Domburg is located in Domburg, in the Southern Netherlands region. This dog-friendly beach is a long stretch of white sand, with clean and cool waters, wide enough to allow space for everyone. With lifeguards on duty, the beach is safe for kids and inexperienced swimmers, making it a favorite among families. There are restaurants, bars and cafes along the beach. It only gets crowded during weekends, but never unbearably so.

Lemmer Beach, Lemmer

Lemmer Beach is located in the southwest coast of the Northern Netherlands region. A small, dog-friendly beach, with soft sand and shallow waters. There is a restaurant at the beach, with an open terrace offering a great meal with stunning views. Besides swimming and sunbathing, you can bathe in the pool next to the restaurant, and there are volleyball nets set up. There are not many facilities near the beach; bring the beach supplies you might need.

Rockanje Beach, Swinsedreef

Rockanje Beach is located in Swains Reef, in the southern coast of the Western Netherlands region. The beach has white sand, with calm and clear waters, and a quiet atmosphere and little to no crowds. The waters are shallow and safe to swim, and with lifeguards around there is nothing to worry about. Being fairly windy, some people visit Rockanje Beach to practice kitesurfing. Besides, there are elastic beds set up on the beach, and you can enjoy paddle boarding. Around the beach, you can find some restaurants with tasty food and refreshing drinks.
