Known as the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’, Bazaruto boasts Mozambique’s most pristine beaches, clearest waters and most biodiverse marine populations. The natural wonders of this destination are covered by a 3km long coral reef and dive sites up to 30m deep.

2. Macaneta Beach, Maputo

Macaneta is a great beach on the Indian Ocean in Maputo. Just 35 kilometres from the city, you’ll find clean waters teeming with fish on an almost deserted beach. This beach has a variety of accommodations which you can find on this page. There are also a variety of exciting activities on offer, including horseback riding, quad biking and more.

3. Mount Namuli, Zambezia

With an altitude of 2419 m, the second highest in the country, it is witness to a velvety valley of tea plantations and a natural beauty of waterfalls and unique birds that provoke the traveller to an inseparable stroll among its red trails, by the way, directly connected. To the reception with smiling children and the daily life of the locals. You don’t need to be a climbing specialist, but it is said to be a must for bird lovers because of the variety of birds you will see.

4. Xai-Xai Beach, Gaza

Located 10km from the town of Xai Xai in the Limpopo River Valley, Xai Xai Beach offers year-round tropical conditions with sheltered natural pools at low tide. Here you can also spot whales and dolphins, and enjoy oysters and other seafood.

5. Maputo Special Reserve, Maputo

Covering an area of 1040 km2, its natural landscape includes beautiful forests and mangrove swamps with coloured sands, wetlands and vegetated parabolic dunes. Access via the newly built bridge in the capital is very easy and saves a lot of travel time. The main feature of the reserve, of course, is that it is home to around 400 elephants.

6. Fortress of Maputo, Maputo

This is one of the most important historical buildings in the city and, although it is quite small, it is interesting to visit. There is a main entrance gate that takes you into the central park with several rooms with exhibits. At the four corners there are ramps that take you to the ‘top’ of the fortress, where ammunition and small cannons are kept, but above all, it offers excellent views of the city.
