Currently I enjoy spending my time as a successful digital nomad (blogger, vlogger & entrepreneur) who has been to 6 continents. 🌎🌍🌏

Named after a ship of the same name that brought victims of the fever in 1838 located in Comfortless Cove. In the late 19th century, the first transatlantic telegraph cables were brought ashore at this point, whose relay cable house can still be seen today. Today, the cove is a popular recreational spot for the island’s inhabitants.

2. Clarence Bay, Ascension Island

Also known as Clarence Bay Anchorage, it is the first place you come to embark and explore all the wonderful sites that the Ascension Islands have to offer. Before you get into all the adventures, we recommend you stay and enjoy more of the soft sands and crystal clear blue water that Clarence Bay has to offer.

3. Devil’s Ashpit, Ascension Island

Devil’s Ashpit, on the eastern side of Ascension Island, is not only a crater island but also home to a NASA tracking station. The volcanic peaks surrounding the site provided a perfect natural shield for this.

4. Devil’s Riding School, Ascension Island

It is so named because out of the mist came shapes that looked like ogres or trolls, dragons and demons. The path crosses a narrow ravine between all these rocks and, with the fog, the effect is spooky and chilling. Ideal for climbing and trekking.

5. Green Mountain National Park, Ascension Island

Ideal for anything from an adventurous hike to a family trip. It is the highest point on Ascension Island and is known to be one of the few large-scale man-made forests. The area is maintained for visitors to some extent, and there is a pass through the dense vegetation.

6. Isla Boatswain Bird, Ascension Island

A small island located off the east coast of Ascension Island, with an area of approximately 5 hectares, this island offers great opportunities for birdwatchers and the area around the island is ideal for zodiac cruising and snorkelling.

7. Mountain Red Hill, Ascension Island

A scoria cone is a conical mound of volcanic fragments that accumulate around a volcanic vent. From Green Mountain there is a spectacular view of Mountain Red Hill, recommended from October to December and March to May. The south coast of the island has a large natural arch.

8. Sisters Peak, Ascension Island

It is a peak on Ascension Island and has an altitude of about 254 metres. The views from Sisters Peak can overlook almost the entire north coast of the island, including the huge “golf balls” of the BBC Atlantic relay station. At the top of the mountain there is a register full of entries; it seems that many locals climb Sisters Peak quite regularly.

9. The Turtle Ponds, Ascension Island

These were built in 1829 to house tortoises which, at the time, were considered a great delicacy. Turtle soup was often on the menu in London clubs. Since the 1950s, turtles have been a protected species. Nearby is Long Beach, where the giant green turtles nest from November to July, burying themselves in the sand and then, in due course, returning to the sea.

10. Travellers Hill, Ascension Island

It is a settlement on Ascension Island, originally the home of the British Air Base forces. The settlement has a cricket ground and swimming pool, as well as Cable & Wireless antennae and infrasound stations.
