THE BEST BEACHES in Guinea Bissau

The following list highlights some of the best beaches in Guinea Bissau. So if you are in Guinea Bissau, I recommend visiting the following:

Bolama Island

Bolama Island, Guinea-Bissau

Address – Bolama Island, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 11°36’03.7″N 15°31’53.5″W

Bolama Island has some really good beaches, surrounded by beautiful mangroves that give that fresh touch to the island. This island has a fairly large population, although it does not seem so, 10,014 locals make life on it. Here you can find several tourist sites to visit, giving a tour of the island is certainly a worthwhile walk.

Suru Beach, Guinea-Bissau

Address – Suru Beach, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 11°44’37.1″N 15°48’26.5″W

Suru beach is a super extensive flat beach, you will only see white sand, calm water and vegetation in the background. The way the wind positions the sand sometimes looks like a desert and makes it look even more beautiful. It takes enough sunscreen, a hat or cap and some umbrella to protect you from the strong rays of the sun.

Melo Island Beach, Guinea-Bissau

Address – Melo Island, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 11°02’25.8″N 15°15’45.0″W

Melo Island beach is located between the mouths of two rivers, Cumbijã and Cacine. As in most of the islands of Guinea-Bissau, its inhabitants also speak Portuguese. It is a very beautiful island, wide, with a lot of green, calm and pleasant beaches.

Varela Beach, Guinea-Bissau

Address – Varela National Park, Jufunco, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 12°11’51.0″N 16°28’18.4″W

Varela beach is located in Varela National Park, Jufunco. It is located within the national park and therefore nearby has various inns and hotels where you can stay. It is a beach with a long shore, ideal for a relaxing walk, and in the background has vegetation that adds a touch of color to the beach.

Praia de Bruce, Ilha de Bubaque

Address – Praia de Bruce, Ilha de Bubaque, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 11°11’42.9″N 15°51’36.5″W

Praia de Bruce is located on the southern coast of Ilha de Bubaque, a small island part of the Bijagos archipelago, just off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. Soft white sand stretches for as far as the eye can see on this stunning beach, backdropped by a verdant forest adding to the views. The water, calm and with a beautiful turquoise color, is safe for everyone to swim, and warm enough for a relaxing bath. There is a bar right at the beach, and a few resorts nearby. It never gets crowded since the beach is extensive enough to allow space for everyone even during the busiest days.

Praia de Ofir, Guinea-Bissau

Address – Praia de Ofir, Guinea-Bissau

Google Maps Link – 11°33’20.3″N 15°28’16.1″W

Praia de Ofir is located on the southeastern coast of Ilha de Bolama, a small island part of the Bijagos archipelago, just off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. Remote and secluded, this peaceful beach is backdropped by palm trees, with a mangrove forest on the shore, offering unique views. There are no facilities at the beach; make sure to bring your own food and have a picnic in the sand. Praia de Ofir is mostly frequented by locals; for this reason, it is well kept and never gets crowded.
