1. The Towers, Kuwait City

The Kuwait Towers give the city a futuristic feel, as they are worthy of a science fiction city. They were built by a Swedish architect. One, the tallest (187 metres high) houses a cafeteria that is itself a revolving observation deck. From there one can get a breathtaking view of the entire city centre. The other tower (147 metres) is actually a water reservoir. The Kuwait Towers were damaged during the Iraqi occupation, but were later repaired to continue to show off their futuristic appearance in Kuwait City.

2. Al Shaheed Park, Al Shaheed Park

At more than 30 hectares, Al Shaheed Park is the largest park in the country and inside, in addition to jogging tracks and a lake, there are two museums, a conference centre, several shops, restaurants and an aviary for migratory birds. In addition, scattered around the grounds are several interesting displays of contemporary sculpture and architecture. There is also space to commemorate Kuwait’s historical legacy, with a replica of the ancient gates and a model of the old city. It’s best to visit on weekdays for maximum enjoyment.

3. The Grand Mosque of Kuwait, Kuwait City

The Grand Mosque of Kuwait City is the largest mosque in the country. Its construction began in 1979 and was completed in 1986. It can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers in the main hall for men and 950 for women in separate rooms. A large outdoor courtyard awaits, but the highlight of the mosque is its luxurious interior, where the 26-metre diameter, 43-metre high dome is quite attractive. It is adorned with Asma al-Husna, the 99 names of God. The tour was guided and explained a lot about the mosque and Islam. You will also visit a plaster room similar to the Alhambra. Without a doubt, this is a must-see place to visit in Kuwait City.

4. Philaca Island, Persian Gulf

Kuwait’s Failaka Island has it all: ruins of buildings affected by the Iraqi invasion, archaeological sites, magnificent sunsets, views of Kuwait City, camel farms, a mini-zoo and even a tank cemetery. It’s a paradise worth visiting, but due to the invasion of Iraq and the Gulf War, most parts of the island are not in good condition. Prehistoric remains and remnants of past civilisations are the main attractions here. This place also provides tourists with all modern amenities like swimming pools, cabanas and restaurants of different cuisines.

5. Messilah Beach, Kuwait City

Messilah is a beach that combines oriental luxury, wonderful views of the stunning scenery and the beauty of the Persian Gulf. On the beach you can find

bars, many swimming pools, and spas on the territory. It is shallow. Fine white sand is located on the coast and the bottom. The water is clear, warm and blue. Tourists rent accommodation in hotels on the coast, but it should be noted that only women can rest here a few days a week: on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

6. Green Island, Kuwait City

It is a great destination for tourists who want to enjoy a little more calm and relaxation in the capital of Kuwait. When you see this place from the top you can see why it is called by this name, because it is a construction that is not natural, it has a round shape and on one of its sides it has several groups of trees that make it look green. On the eastern side visitors can enjoy a swimming pool that is made of sea water, so its height and waves depend on the day, although it is never more than three metres deep. On both sides of Green Island there are restaurants serving local and international dishes.

7. Souk Sharq, Kuwait City

It is a major shopping centre and market in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The centre began as a simple traditional souk, but investment in the city has expanded it into a modernised western-style shopping mall of approximately 55,567 m³ in area. On the ground and first floors are a wide variety of retail outlets, ranging from prestigious shops to well-known fashion boutiques and designer shops. There are also numerous cafés and restaurants.

8. Kuwait Zoo, Kuwait City

It is a garden and zoo located in Farwaniya, which was damaged by the Iraqi invasion in 1990, but was completely repaired and reopened to the public in 1993, including new species of animals. It covers an area of about 180,000 square metres and is divided into four main areas: Animal Section, Veterinary Clinic, Cultural Centre and Life Sciences and a Service and Maintenance Section.
