THE BEST BEACHES in Reunion

The following list highlights some of the best beaches in Reunion. So if you are in Reunion, I recommend visiting the following:

Plage de Boucan Canot

Plage de Boucan Canot, Saint-Paul

Address – Plage de Boucan Canot, Saint-Paul, Reunion

Google Maps Link  – 21°01’44.2″S 55°13’31.5″E

Plage de Boucan Canot is located in Saint-Paul. There is a succession of bars with short terraces.  The beach is below on the right. You get there by wooden stairs that cross a thin, shaded edge. It is hit by waves, which makes Boucan Canot, despite the recurrent presence of sharks, a famous surf spot.

Address – Plage de L’Hermitage, Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains, Reunion

Google Maps Link – 21°04’49.5″S 55°13’21.8″E

Plage de L’Hermitage is located in Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains. It is a white sand beach west of Reunion, protected by a coral reef.  Long called L’Ermitage, it owes its name to the place that limits it, L’Hermitage les Bains. It is a popular place for the end of the year celebration that brings together more than 20,000 people. Camping on the beach and on the back beach is prohibited, but there is an inter communal camp at the edge of the lagoon. There are beach restaurants at L’Hermitage and La Saline.

Address – La Salines-les-Bains, Reunion

Google Maps Link – 21°05’44.0″S 55°14’09.1″E

Plage de La Saline les Bains is located in La Salines-les-Bains. This long beach, sheltered from the filaos, is the quietest on the west coast. The lagoon is beautiful but the water is often shallow. The advantage is that the site is ideal for children and those who want to enjoy corals and fish equipped with fins, mask and snorkel.

Plage des Roches Noires is located in Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains. Is one of the smallest beaches on the west coast of Reunion Island, it is also one of the most “trendy”. Located near the city centre of Saint-Gilles les Bains and the marina, Les Roches Noires beach is a well-known spot for sunbathing and relaxation enthusiasts.

Grande Anse Beach, Petite-Ile

Address – Grande Anse beach, Petite-Ile, Reunion

Google Maps Link – 21°22’05.0″S 55°32’46.2″E

Grande Anse beach is located in Petite-Ile. Is the last stretch of white sand, shaded by filao trees, before the black and steep southern coast. But you should resist swimming in the dangerous turbulent waters frequented by sharks. You’d better go to the small natural pool on the left and enjoy a nice day of relaxation.
