The Best Beaches in North Central Province

Veligandu Island Beach

Address – Villingili Public Beach, Villingili, Maldives

Villingili Public Beach is located in Villingili, west of Male. Its waters are shallow even far from the shore, which makes this a safe beach for kids. There are cafes and restaurants nearby, and you can have a barbeque. There is not much to see underwater, but above, watching the sunset in Villingili is an unforgettable view.

Bikini Beach, Maafushi Island

Address – Bikini Beach, Maafushi Island, Maldives

Bikini Beach is located in Maafushi Island. The white sand is littered with coconut trees, giving a much needed shade on the shore. The water is not as crystalline as you can see in other Maldivian islands, but it is deeper and great for swimming and snorkeling. There are rope swings, turning a simple swim into a fun activity. This is one of the few designated Bikini beaches, which means tourists can wear bikinis while in them.

Gulhi Beach, Gulhi Island

Gulhi Beach is located on the northern coast of Gulhi Island. A big, clean beach with warm and clear waters. You can enjoy some watersports. There are two swings in the middle of the water, a good spot for pictures. The beach can get a bit crowded and sometimes have tourists playing music loudly. There are small fishes around that you can spot without even snorkeling.

Artificial Beach, Male

Artificial Beach is located on the eastern coast of Male. The beach is named this way since it is a man-made beach, with both sandy and rocky areas. There are many facilities here, and a lot of seating available. The crystal waters are shallow, calm and warm, very safe and perfect swimming and relaxing. You can see aircrafts taking off and landing at Male airport. Avoid wearing bikinis while on this beach; only Burkina are allowed.

Bikini Beach, Rasdhoo

Bikini Beach is located in Rasdhoo island. Aside from the typical Maldivian clear turquoise waters, this beach is popular because of its cats. The water is too shallow to properly swim, but that’s what makes this the perfect beach for walking and admiring the sunset on the shore. You can also snorkel, and cat lovers will be delighted since cute cats are very likely to stay by your side and keep you company.

Since the beach is so far from the town, it can take around 1 hour on foot to get here; for this reason, it rarely gets crowded. There are no restaurants nearby, but you can bring your own food and enjoy a barbecue and picnic at the beach.
