Located 15 kilometres from the capital, the park is opposite the impressive Empire Hotel and Country Club. Vast vegetation covers up to 234 hectares of land and is equipped with all kinds of amenities, perfect for a family day out or a solo getaway in nature. As the name suggests, the park features a variety of recreational facilities, such as a children’s playground and exercise equipment. The large fish pond is especially popular with visitors looking to stroll and take pictures, and the outdoor arena hosts activities such as gassings.

2. Jame ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan

It is about 3 kilometres north of the centre of the capital towards Gadong. Remote and inaccessible. The mosque was built in 1992 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reign of the sultan, who still rules the country today. It is not as famous as the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sultan Mosque, but it is imposing and spectacular. The interior is also impressive, with a staircase in the middle. There are separate prayer rooms for men and women here, if you wish.

3. Jerudong Beach, Bandar Seri Begawan

The beach is surrounded by colourful cliffs, the coastal area is dotted with souvenir stores and fishmongers, and the white sandy coves and crystal clear waters are perfect for resting and relaxing on the beach. Fishermen come here to fish and always catch great catches on this beach. It is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the cool breeze and breathtaking views. In addition, you can play golf or polo on the lawn of the beautiful country club nearby.

4. Kampung Ayer, Bandar Seri Begawan

The “Water City” has a mosque, a school, a restaurant, a police station and a fire station, all on stilts. Most of these towns are named after the trades and crafts traditionally carried out there. They are linked by a footbridge of over 29.00 metres. Water Village looks like a slum from a distance, but don’t be fooled. There are more modern conveniences than you can imagine.

5. Mahkota Jubli Emas Park, Bandar Seri Begawan

Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas is a 12-hectare riverside park adjacent to the tranquil water town of Kampung Ayer. You can stroll along the waterfront where you can enjoy peaceful gardens filled with tulips and baobabs. Most people come here in the evening when the views and scenery are at their best. You can also rent a 2-seater, 4-seater or 6-seater bicycle.

6. Museum of Royal Presents, Bandar Seri Begawan

The Royal Regalia Museum houses a wide range of artefacts used in royal ceremonies, including costumes, weapons and jewellery. Highlights of the museum are the many gifts presented to the Sultan of Brunei by various world leaders, displayed in glass cases that stretch from one wing of the museum to the other. You must be barefoot to enter the museum. You can leave your shoes in the shoe rack in front of the museum, and admission is free.

7. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan

With its white colour, its size and its golden dome, this structure is the most important in the skyline of the city and that is why it is recognized by visitors who visit it. in the artificial lake of Kampong Ayer or Water Village. It is recommended to take a walk in the very green garden with several fountains, with some trees and flower gardens. The main dome of the mosque is lined with pure gold, flanked by a main minaret over 50 metres high and an elevator that takes you to the top where you will find an observatory.

8. Tasek Lama Recreational Park, Bandar Seri Begawan

If you need to de-stress, Tasek Lama is the place to go. There are many hiking trails of varying difficulty here, perfect for runners and hikers. If you are an avid adventurer, pack your hiking gear and hike the jungle trails of Sarang Helang (Eagle’s Nest) or Bukit Markutin. The observation deck offers beautiful views of the park. Stop by the waterfall which you can enjoy on the wooden deck.

9. Wasai Wong Kadir Recreational Park, Mendaram Kechil

A common reference to “Labi Falls” generally means Wasai Qadir where the waterfalls have their home. A goal that remains shrouded in mystery and magic. It is a two-hour drive from Bandar Seri Begawan. Wasai Wong Kadir is a 45-minute walk from the main Rabi road. An ideal place for locals to have a picnic. Despite its natural beauty, stay in the shallower part of the lake, as drowning cases have been reported.

10. Bukit Pagon, Temburong

It is the highest mountain in Brunei. It is located on the border with Malaysia. The condition of the forest roads seems to change every month, so I recommend hiring a local driver who knows the conditions and the vehicle and it is advisable to go in dry season. Be aware that this trek is quite difficult so you must have trekking experience for this. The views however are spectacular and you will be able to see a lot of nature in the area.

11. Ulu Temburong National Park, Temburong

This national park is one of the most pristine virgin forests in the world, with dense forests that can be enjoyed from a vantage point. The park can be accessed by boat and driving to the park is part of the overall Temburong travel experience. A series of forest trails and boardwalks allow visitors to make the most of the park. For many tourists, Canopy Walkway is the highlight of their trip to Ulu Temburong. You can also swim in the Sungai Temburong Mountain Lake.

12. Tasek Merimbun, Tutong

Tasek Merimbun is the largest natural lake in Brunei, surrounded by the 7800 hectare Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park. Tannins are released from fallen leaves and give the water a dark sheen. This, together with its diversity of flora and fauna, makes it an exciting trip for adventurous nature lovers. Many bird watchers come here to see a wide variety of exotic birds.
