1. Boudhnath Stupa, Kathmandu
Located 7 km northeast of Kathmandu, Boudhanath is a prominent pilgrimage centre and one of the most popular tourist places to visit in Nepal. It is the largest spherical stupa in Nepal. Boudhanath is also popularly known as Khasa Chaitya. In the year 1979, this place also became one of the UNESCO heritage sites. Soon after this, Boudhanath became a very popular place for tourists to visit when they visit Nepal. The whole stupa is basically a trade route that is very old between Tibet and Nepal.

5. Honey Hunting, Kathmandu
The honey collectors of Nepal are specialists in extracting this tasty delicacy from the dizzying heights of the Himalayas, where the world’s largest bees build their honeycombs. Before beginning their work, they perform a ceremony to ask for the blessing of the cliff god. They sacrifice sheep, offer flowers, fruits, rice and above all pray. Once the ceremony is over, the men begin their three days of work. This act proves how dangerous and difficult their work is, for in addition to dealing with the altitude, they have to deal with the bees, the Apis Laboriosa, considered the largest in the world, which flee from their nests in all directions. After scaring the bees away, the man uses a kind of spear to extract the pieces of honey and put them in the basket. Then the baskets, which were held by ropes, are lowered to the ground and the hunter continues his work. This act is performed only by a small group of people, a dozen or more people are recruited to help the hunters in their work. Honey extraction is only performed twice a year and is considered a sacred tradition.

7. Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu
Perched on a hill in the Kathmandu valley and surrounded by greenery, Swayambhunath Stupa is considered one of the oldest and holiest religious sites in the country. It’s a 365-step climb up to the complex, which is dotted with smaller shrines and temples. The architecture is often described as absolutely stunning, with a massive vajra (thunderbolt sceptre) the first thing that comes into view the moment you complete the climb. The eyes of the Buddha are painted on the Stupa, looking in all four directions, and inside, the Stupa has a plethora of ancient and sacred artefacts. Recently, a monastery, museum and library were added to the complex which also houses restaurants, shops and lodges for accommodation.
8. Mount Annapurna, Gandaki
This mountain offers trekkers an unparalleled outdoor experience, showcasing the varied landscapes of the Annapurna region. The classic trek takes travellers high into the Himalayas, through gorges, over desert plateaus and through lush subtropical valleys dotted with terraced farms. The trek also passes many religious sites and picturesque villages. It is one of the most popular treks in Nepal with lodges and tea stops at intervals of an hour or less, up to the highest sections at least.

One of the oldest, most famous and sacred temples in Nepal, the PashupatiNath Temple is located on the outskirts of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The Bagmati River flows near this temple dedicated to Nepal’s revered deity, Lord Pashupatinath, also known as Lord Shiva. Ardent Hindu followers visit this tourist spot in Nepal to obtain the blessings of the divine deity. It is one of the most recommended places to visit in Nepal. Overall, in Maha Shivaratri festival every year, more than 1 million people from all over the world visit this temple. 10. Langtang National Park, Kathmandu
Langtang, nestled among the Himalayan Mountains, is incredibly beautiful. It is rich in biodiversity, cultural heritage and climatic zones. The starry sky that is displayed every night has unprecedented clarity and is often visible even early in the evening. The landscape is elevated and has crystal clear lakes. There are an estimated 4,500 people living inside the park, who depend heavily on the wood and firewood they obtain in the park itself. Most of them belong to the Tamang ethnic group. There are several spiritual sites scattered throughout the park.
11. Trisuli River, Rasuwa
The river takes its name from the famous pilgrim who carried Shiva’s trident high into the rocky mountains of Gosainkunda in the Himalayas and created three springs, hence the name Trishuli at the river’s source. The river crosses the 2,000-metre-high Mahavarat mountain range and has an impressive canyon at the bottom. For many, the Trishuli River is the perfect rafting experience at the right time, exciting but not too difficult and easily accessible from Kathmandu.
12. Mount Manaslu, Manang-Gandaki
Mount Manaslu, the eighth highest peak in the world rising to the height of 8,163 m above sea level, is located in the Mansiri Himal ridges in the Gorkha district of Nepal. It is regarded as the “spirit mountain”. This peak is about 64 km east of Mount Annapurna and the base camp of Manaslu is at an altitude of 4700m. The long ridges of the mountain offer the possibility of climbing from all directions to reach the summit which is far above its neighbouring scenes. The Manaslu trek is an off-the-beaten-path circuit, a trek through a very quiet, still unspoilt area of the Himalayas. As it shares a border with Tibet, it offers spectacular beauty and a blend of Nepalese and Tibetan cultures.

This famous natural tourist site has a dark, cavernous cave known for its stalactites and stalagmites. The picturesque structure of the cave makes it a great place for photography. This type of cave is very rare in nature and this is the reason why it attracts many tourists throughout the year. This cave also has a statue of Lord Shiva inside it. These caves are located in the city of Pokhara in the western region of Nepal. This cave is about 1100 metres above sea level. Many people visit this place to see the statue of Lord Shiva inside the cave. It can be said that this place is one of the hidden places in Nepal.

Phewa Lake is basically a very popular freshwater lake of Nepal and one of the best tourist attractions. This lake is regulated by dams and water reservoirs and this is the reason why this lake is considered as a semi-natural lake. People take care of this lake and this is the reason why it looks so beautiful and is known all over the country for attracting many tourists throughout the year. This lake is also common for people who enjoy boating at sunset. Phewa Lake is one of those places where water sports are very popular, the lake is also lined with luxury hotels, restaurants, bars and shops.
15. Makalu, Mahalangur Himalayas
Mount Makalu, better known locally as Makalufeng, is the fifth highest mountain in the world, at 8,462 m above sea level. It is located between Tibet and Nepal in the Himalayan range. It is characterised by an imposing size and a perfect pyramidal structure with four sharp peaks. This long and fairly sustained trek offers the traveller a wonderful variety of scenery, with its picturesque villages and green farming terraces topped by lush forested ridges of high alpine valleys. Compared to the more popular areas of the Everest and Annapurna regions this is a much less visited area although we can expect to see some trekkers.

17. World Peace Pagoda, Lumbini Sanskritik
The World Peace Pagoda in Pokhara was erected by Buddhist monks to promote peace throughout the world. With its white stupa it is visible from the shores of Phewa Tal Lake. The first thing to do is to go to the jetty on Phewa Tal Lake to hire a boat and cross the lake. Once across the lake, it’s a 50-minute climb up the stairs to the top of the white stupa. Don’t worry, there are several cafes at the top where you can rest and have a drink. If the day is clear, from up here you will have a beautiful view of the Annapurna peaks.
18. ShivaPuri Nagarjun National Park, Kathmandu
This park is close enough to Kathmandu to become a favourite retreat for locals and visitors looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. This park is truly spectacular. Visitors can really reconnect with nature here. There are a number of hiking trails that lead through fresh, clean water springs, green hills, mountain views and beautiful forests. The name of the park is associated with religious scriptures and Lord Shiva Equally important to the locals are the many medicinal plants that thrive here. Animals that live here include leopards, monkeys and black bears.
