THE BEST BEACHES in Ascension Island

The following list highlights some of the best beaches in Ascension Island. So if you are in the Ascension Island, I recommend visiting the following:

Comfortless Cove

Comfortless Cove

Address – Comfortless Cove, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Google maps link – 7°54’36.7″S 14°24’09.3″W

Comfortless Cove is located in St Helena. It is surrounded by rocks and its water is crystal clear with turquoise tones. It is a small beach, quite quiet, without waves. It is quite particular, because it has a small cemetery, picturesque and very special for the locals, nothing terrifying.

Long Beach

Address – Long Beach, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Google maps link – 7°55’22.2″S 14°24’25.4″W

Long Beach is located on the western coast of Ascension, part of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. Golden sand and bright blue water greet you once you reach this stunning, calm beach, where you can spot sea turtles and have a relaxing day. The waves are strong as well as the undercurrents; for this reason, the beach is not recommended for swimming. However, sea turtles have no problem with this, as they arrive at the beach between February and April to nest. There is a football pitch in the area, but no places to eat; make sure to bring your own food.

English Beach

Address – English Beach, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Google maps link – 7°53’41.8″S 14°22’55.9″W

English beach is located in St Helena. You will fall in love from the moment you see it for the first time, its water is incredibly crystalline, with sky blue and aquamarine tones that will leave you dazzled. Its sand is so white that it reflects the rays of the sun. It is a quiet beach, ideal for relaxing and sunbathing.

North East Bay

Address – North East Bay, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Google Maps Link – 7°54’49.8″S 14°20’35.6″W

North East Bay is located on the northeastern coast of Ascension Island, part of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. Remote and unspoiled, this stunning beach is surrounded by wild nature, totally untouched by humans. The sand at this beach is darker than most beaches in Ascension Island, which gives it a higher temperature. You can hike around the beach, spot sea turtles nesting, and even see land crabs around the sand. There are no facilities or places to eat in the area, making it a less-visited beach.

Clarkes Beach

Address – Clarkes Beach, ASCN 1ZZ, St. Helena

Google Maps Link – 7°57’03.1″S 14°25’04.3″W

Clarkes Beach is located on the western coast of Ascension Island, part of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. An isolated beach, perfect to relax and disconnect from the outside world. Its soft sand is comfortable enough for sunbathing; however, the waves and undercurrents are too strong to swim safely. In the nearby town, you can find a bar. Whenever you visit, you will surely find the beach empty.

Georgetown Beach

Address – Georgetown Beach, Unnamed Road, Georgetown ASCN 1ZZ, St. Helena

Google Maps Link – 7°55’39.8″S 14°24’57.1″W

Georgetown Beach is located on the western coast of Ascension Island, part of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. This remote beach, with soft sand and sharp rocks littering the area, offers some of the most beautiful and dramatic views. The beach stands just west of Long Beach, with waters just as bright blue, but not safe for swimming. However, from February to April, the beach becomes a turtle nesting point, and you can spot this stunning creature all over the beach. In the area, you can find a bar, a playground for kids, a memorial park, and some stores. To the left end, there is a camping ground if you chose to stay the night at the beach. It doesn’t get crowded.
