It is no secret to anyone that China hides one of the most interesting cultures and landscapes that leave you breathless. Hong Kong has always been modern and full of hundreds of people and tourists every year. However, on the Hong Kong Islands, you can escape all the hustle and bustle of the present. Spend a few days in total calm and tranquility next to the most incredible and charming landscapes and places that Po Toi has for you.

Nowadays it is almost impossible to imagine the rocky town that existed almost 170 years ago, due to all the modernity that can be admired in Hong Kong. However, if you go to the southeast end of the island, about 3.2 kilometers away, you can run into a separate world.
Po Toi is a quiet island, where you can find an amazing place, without car noise or crowds. Explore this fishing village, instead of listening to traffic noise, birdsong will delight your ears. Go up the old and crumbling steps, covered by hibiscus and flower ginger, which attract incredibly to butterflies.
While you are going up, a particular sound will be present. The roar of the frogs and the hum of the crickets, in addition to that of the birds, will accompany you along the way. On the top, there is a hillside full of tombs that overlook the sea, most of them look well maintained, with tiles and some photographs of the deceased. You can’t miss the spectacularly blue bay views.
Go down a side road towards the sound of the sea. You will pass some rock sculptures that are probably there since the local Bronze Age, about 2500 years ago. On your way will be some stone formations that will leave you surprised. Palm Rock, stone fingers running down the cliff. On the other hand, Turtle Rock gives the impression that creeps up the hill. In addition, Monk Rock leans over the road as giving a blessing to the people who pass by.
How to get there
In Hong Kong, take a ferry from Aberdeen to Po Toi Island, a 1-hour trip. You can also take the ferry from Stanley, a 30-minute tour. Services do not work every day, so check with the Hong Kong Tourism Board for the latest schedules.
When to go
November to February are the least humid and most comfortable months, but the Chinese New Year, which can be from late January to mid-February, is very busy. The Hong Kong typhoon season is from May to September, so watch for forecasts and prepare for the suspension of services.
How long
It is a small island, so one day it will be enough to know all the little corners that this place offers you.

Planning
You buy the ferry tickets when boarding. If you want to eat in the best oyster and seafood restaurant, it is better to make a reservation, because it can be busy.
Inside information
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Also, if you have any kind of problem with some meals or diet, bring your own snacks. It is also recommended that you boil tap water because it is not always completely suitable for consumption. Ask for a map so you know which paths to take. Do not forget your ferry schedule, you will not want to miss it.
History
The main activity of the island for years is fishing, agriculture, and seaweed harvesting. Since the Bronze Age, they have been forming different rock formations characteristic of the island.
