Summer Festival Of St. Jakob

You cannot miss the world-renowned performance of the Jakobischützen, which takes place at the summer festival of St. Jakob Am Thurn. You can also enjoy the Christmas market, certainly the most authentic and atmospheric in the area. In addition, it is one of the few markets that still organizes the procession in Perchten, when participants wear folk masks and devil costumes.

How to get there

Salzburg Airport (SZG) is only a 15-minute drive from St. Jakob Am Thurn. You can take bus 160 from Hauptbahnhof (central train station) to the Haslach stop in Hallein, near Puch, and walk the last mile (1.6 km) to the villages.

When to go

Visit in summer, when the balconies overflow with flowers and the village life takes place outdoors. The Christmas market opens on the weekends of December.

Technically this beautiful town belongs to the city of Puch bei Salzburg. In it, we will find different country houses that have belonged to the same families for 200 years and have been restored according to the traditional local style.
