History

The Old Cataract Hotel was built in 1899 by Engineer Henri Favager. The entrepreneur traveler, Thomas Cook, gave the order to build it to the house of European travelers.

Although it was closed from 2008 to 2011, it was restored to combine the historic Old Cataract wing into one hotel. Similarly, it has been used to record musicals, movies and even served as inspiration for famous writers like Agatha Christie.
