Currently I enjoy spending my time as a successful digital nomad (blogger, vlogger & entrepreneur) who has been to 6 continents. 🌎🌍🌏

The Abuko Nature Reserve, a small protected area of less than two square kilometres, protects a splendid example of tropical riverine forest. It is also home to an impressive biodiversity of both plant and animal species, especially birds. The reserve can be visited by following a trail, which can be done in about two hours. However, it may take longer depending on the time spent bird watching or the different natural spectacles to be found there.

2. Kotu Beach, Banjul

It is very lively in the high season, bordered by a mangrove area, Kotu Stream Wetlands, which contrasts an exotic and wild air to the elegance of the streets. There are supermarkets, craft markets, beach bars and restaurants. Kotu Beach also tends to have good waves, making it a most popular destination for surfers and other water sports enthusiasts. In addition, the water is nice and warm and you can go deep into the sea before it gets too deep.

3. Makasutu Culture Forest, Banjul

Makasutu Park is a lush green space where you can find various types of nature such as mangrove swamps, dense and mature tropical forest, typical Guinean forests, savannah and grasslands. The reserve is open to the public for cultural and tourist tours during the day. You can enjoy various cultural displays such as the traditional dances of the Jola tribe, some singing accompanied by drums and a traditional Gambian meal at the local restaurant. It is also possible to take canoe tours through the mangroves, as well as learn about traditional herbal remedies and even go bird watching.
