1. Imamzade Mausoleum, Baghbanlar
It is believed that the building has undergone several reconstructions from its foundation to the present day. A tour of the Imamzadeh mausoleum allows you to see several monuments that commemorate and pay homage to the past and traditions of the Ganja people. A tour of Ganja will give you an insight into one of the most important natural destinations in the region by visiting beautiful buildings such as the Goygol Lake and the mausoleum of Nizami Ganjabi.
2. Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Baku
The popular Azerbaijan Carpet Museum in the heart of Azerbaijan has one of the largest carpet collections in the world. Travellers can stroll through the corridors lined with colourful tapestries showcasing various weaving techniques and materials collected throughout the country’s history. In addition to exhibits, the museum staff also preserves and disseminates the ancient art of carpet weaving by organising discussions, workshops, exhibitions and symposia, often with the support of UNESCO.
3. Yanar Dag, Baku
One of the most famous and popular tourist destinations is the “Eternal Flame” on Yanar Dag Mountain in Azerbaijan. In fact, it looks more like a hill than a mountain, with ancient gas burning on its sides. A metre-long tongue of flame licks the earth in layers for about 10 metres, burning anyone who gets too close. People sit on benches and watch the flaming mounds at night. Most dazzling scenery.
4. Nohur Lake, Gabala
One of the most beautiful places in Gabala. Nestled between mountains, it offers breathtaking views. During your stay, enjoy a gondola ride on the lake for romantic moments and breathtaking natural scenery.
5. Goygol Lake, Ganja
All nature lovers will love it. One of the most beautiful lakes in Azerbaijan, following in the footsteps of Murov Dag, not far from the town of Ganja. The lake is worth a visit, as it has a wonderful location between forests and mountains. Goygol is also known for its rich wildlife including trout, white deer, brown bears, goats, roe deer and badgers.
6. Maral Gol, Ganja
Most of the territory of Azerbaijan is covered with mountains, which hides a lot of natural beauty underneath. This lake is surrounded by the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. There are 296 steps to reach Maralgol. Arriving at the lake, you are greeted by a breathtaking view of the beautiful nature. Unlike Goygol, Maralgol is surrounded by subalpine meadows, which makes it a great place for a picnic.
7. Babadag, Quba
It offers views in all directions, including views of Shadag and Bazarzu, the holy mountain of the Muslims of Azerbaijan and the highest peak in Azerbaijan. This sacred mountain can be climbed in summer from mid-July to mid-August, but you can try from June onwards and, if you are lucky, you can climb it in early September.
8. Monte Shahdagh, Qusar
The perfect place to explore the Great Caucasus Mountains with their amazing rock formations, unspoiled nature, alpine animals and the traditional way of life of the locals. Tourists can enjoy many activities. Cycle along steep trails, ride a quad mountain vehicle or paraglide over towering peaks. The resort “Shahdag” is located on the territory of Shahdag National Park in the Gusar district of Azerbaijan, near the mountain of the same name, suitable for advanced and untrained skiers. There are routes for beginners and professionals.
9. Batabat Lake, Shahbuz
It is a beautiful mountain lake in the mountains of Shahbuz district at 2,500 metres above sea level. The combination of mountain and meadow landscapes with tall green meadows and colourful flowers creates a wonderful picture. The lake is also famous for its crystal clear waters that offer crystal clear views reflecting the beautiful surrounding landscape. Another interesting fact about Lake Batabat is the floating islands. It is a small peat island of 16 hectares that floats on the surface of the lake.
