Catch the sunset
In the Curonian Spit, you’ll see the most amazing sunsets. Over here, you’ll appreciate the longest sunset cinemas in the world. At first, the sky would be clear. See the Dead Dunes
You can find them between Juodkrante and Pervalka. At first, you’ll see the sign announcing Nagils Nature Park and get up to the top of the dune. Then, you’ll admire the Curonian Lagoon with its vast hills of sand. Later, when you’re in the dune, you’ll learn how there is a couple of village under your feet. In fact, this dune has buried the villages of Nagliai and Karvaiciai.
Cyclin or trailing through the spit
You’ll have around 50 roughly km to ride. Besides, this place is perfect for those well trained and not-too-well-trained cyclists. Over there, you can easily explore with its very well-maintained signposts along the way. At first, you’ll go through the center of the spit. Also, you can also ride around the sea and the lagoon. From Russia, you’ll get from Kaliningrad Airport (KGD).
- By Bus: First, you’ll take the bus from Khrabrovo Airport to Nilda. Over there, you can rent a car and drive 8 minutes to Curonian Spit. You’ll spend around $7 to 10 USD.
- By Taxi: It is an hour and 8-minute trip from the airport. The estimated price is from $40 to 55 USD.

Planning
Over here, it is important for you to respect the place’s sings. There are some locations you are not allowed to go to. Also, be careful with the control ships in the lagoon. If you do not have your passport and visa you can’t walk too far into it.

This is an excellent place to get by bicycle. Also, if you are going out in the evenings, remember to grab some extra clothes with you. It is also important to dress well and get blankets for the windy dune climate.
History
This place has fascinating stories about its origins, such as mythological legends. In these, it is said that this place was formed by a giantess, Neringa, playing on the seashore. However, this site was in Kaup during ca. 800 to 1016. Thus, it was the home of the last speaker of Old Prussian.
During the 20th century, most of the people who live here have dedicated themselves to fishing. In addition, it was over here that the world’s first fishing communities began to form. Finally, after having gone through the first and second world wars, the Soviet Union was separated. When this happened, this place became the holiday destination of many Germans and has remained so.
