Isar River

The multitude of Munich natives flocks to the banks of the Isar River for a picnic, sunbathing and swimming. You can also sunbathe on the wide pebble banks and splash a little in the deep and beautiful jade green waters. On the other hand, when the day comes to an end, barbecues begin, along with wine and the party continues.

English garden

This is located right next to Prinzregentenstrasse. In addition, it has an artificial river called Eisbach (“Ice Brook”) which flows through beautiful flower-covered meadows. On the other hand, if you love surfing you should know that thanks to the precipitation of the Isar river water its rapid flow current creates a perfect perpetual wave for you to have fun.

Wolfratshausen

Only 34 kilometers southwest of Munich in Wolfratshausen, you can take a raft made of a traditional trunk to embark on an amazing six-hour journey through the Isar and back to the outskirts of Munich. In addition, this tour is led by boatmen dressed in lederhosen, the raft rolls through the rock and splashes three low waterfalls, all accompanied by a sound of an oompah band on board.

How to get there

The nearest airport is Munich Airport (MUC), then you can ride a taxi or bicycle through the city, remember to book your ticket in advance.

When to go

For you to enjoy swimming and sunbathing you must go in summer, in addition, that you can see some wave resistant surfers or if you want to visit Volksbad Muller´sches. Certainly, if yours are Christmas shopping you must visit it in December and marvel at the different stores.

You should stay approximately 5 to 6 days to make the most of your trip, relax and enjoy your stay.

Opening and closing hours

Most tourist sites open at 8 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon, so you will have enough time to visit them. However, it is recommended that you take advantage of the day to do many more activities.
