Secret Gardens of Cahors, France is a famous place of art and music located in southwestern France. In these gardens, you’ll have an incredible experience by exploring its 30 secrets. Things to do

The Garden of Intoxication 

To start your trip you’ll appreciate its beauty while you zig through Cahors’s alleyways. Over there, the guide will teach you why this place is called the garden of intoxication. Later, you’ll see its vineyard as you walk through it. Also, you can’t stop tasting its delicious wine. Besides, you can see how the vines planted in this garden echo the Cahors vineyards.

At first, start your trip by knowing this religious order of St Francis of Assisi in France. Also, you’ll see the cottage garden where flowers and vegetables grow together. Le Jardin Mauresque 

In this garden, first, you will find the oriental influence in French architecture. In the same way, you can see how it is inspired by Arabia. Above all, you’ll notice all the references to the Moorish troops’ occupation of southern France. How to get there

You can get to Cahors and appreciate its beautiful secret Gardens from Toulouse Airport (TLS). The best way to get there is by renting a Car and Drive 1 hour and 13 minutes for about $15 to 23 USD.

When to go

Summer in Cahors is hot and humid. The best time to travel there is in late spring and early fall.

These gardens are enormous and full of secrets and things to explore. If you really want to have an adventure, take at least 5 days on your trip.

Planning

These gardens are open all year through so you are not going to need booking in advance. Besides, you’ll have plenty of incredible hotels near them. 

On the other hand, if you’re planning to park your car, the recommendation is to sail along a riverside boulevard. In this way, you can avoid driving around the town and getting into the impatient traffic. 

If you have any problem over there, you can go to the tourism office in Gambetta Square.

This place will be surrounded by amazing views and architecture. So it is important you bring your best cámera and your most comfortable shoes. Also, take your repellent with you so you can fully enjoy the walk through the gardens. In the same way, you need to bring warm clothes because the climate can be pretty cold.

History

In 2002 these gardens were created to highlight areas that hadn’t numerous attractive green areas. Therefore, the city’s Department develope the “Jardins secrets de Cahors” as an original thematic. 

As the years go by, 30 spaces have been maintained in an eco-responsible way. Also, they’ve won numerous awards and add lots of beauty to its town. Thus these gardens are worth visiting themselves, they also are surrounded by an amazing architectural patrimony. 

It is important to know that each one of them it’s presented through a specific them and has its own history.

Cahors Cathedral 

After you visit the Gardens of Cahors you need to visit its Cathedral. It is a stunning place with a detailed tour. You will be able to explore its two domes. Also, you’ll explore its beautiful cloister with pilgrim Santiago. In this Cathedral, you’ll see the combination of the romanesque and gothic styles. Besides, you’ll be standing in a World Heritage site on the route of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago.
