History
William West Durant was the creator of the centerpiece of this place, a three-story alpine chalet on the banks of the Sagamore River. This happened in 1890, just before selling the camp to the railway heir Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt in 1901.
The hosts enjoy their wonderful facilities since 1897. Over the years, the place has had changes in its design and structure, always in accordance with what the owner of the moment wanted to convey. Although this place started as a small family and a private camp, it became one of the favorite refuges for many tourists.
